In a prospective cohort study of acupuncture for newly diagnosed idiopathic central serous retinopathy in 624 eyes, treatment courses of 10 days were repeated until the patient was improved. 86% had resolved within 3 months and five to six courses. However, this rate of improvement may be accountable by spontaneous recovery. (Lu & Friberg 1987).
