Many acupuncturists have anecdotally observed that psoriasis is
the skin disease that responds best to acupuncture (Rosted 1992b).
In one study, a series of acupuncture treatments was given to 61
patients with chronic psoriasis that had not responded to conventional
management. Thirty-one of the patients had “excellent improvement
with complete or almost complete clearance of all skin lesions with
no recurrence.” There was a clear correlation between the
number of sessions of acupuncture and the effectiveness of treatment
(Liao & Liao 1991). Another case series of 600 patients with
psoriasis reported a “marked improvement” in 86% of
patients. (Zhao, Wang & Hua 1991).
